MAXIMIZE YOUR PLANNING TIME:

Stay organized with meeting dates and locations- be ON TIME!
Organize and create your materials, lessons, activities (team planning is key)Make any necessary copies.Take a pen to your mailbox.
Do not gather to chit chat in the halls or the lounge for extended periods=loss of time!Close your door if needed to avoid distractions from entering your room.

PARENT CONFERENCES:

Keep open lines of communication: grades, behavior, and attendance
Always shake hands and greet with a smile while looking at them in the eye.
Start and end with positives (strengths and areas of improvement).
Be an active listener and allow for questions/comments.
Have materials prepared to reflect the information presented.
Encourage parents/ guardians to get involved- be proactive!
Keep a log of all communication- face to face, phone, and email.

Questions to be prepared for:
1- What are the concepts each child is expected to master?
Common Core/ Essential Standards/VOCATS2- How will your students be evaluated for mastery?3-What methods of differentiation do you incorporate to meet the diverse learner?4- How will your course affect promotion/graduation requirements?5- How can the parents stay involved?
